Facebook has updated its policy on blocking advertising and will again allow advertising related to cryptocurrency, according to a published announcement on June 26. But the ban on the initial offer of coins (ICO) remains in force.
The statement said that the company was engaged in studying the best way to handle advertising bans related to the cryptocurrency in recent months, as well as working on the security of such ads.
The new policy of Facebook services says:
“So starting June 26, we’ll be updating our policy to allow ads that promote cryptocurrency and related content from pre-approved advertisers. But we’ll continue to prohibit ads that promote binary options and initial coin offerings.”
Now, to advertise products and services related to the crypto sphere, the advertiser needs to apply to Facebook to evaluate the right to participate.
Facebook recognizes that not everyone will be able to pass the moderation and place their advertising. Nevertheless, the company is open to feedback and, if necessary, will be able to revise its policy. The statement also mentioned that the company will continue to explore the technology behind crypto terms, for the further development of Facebook’s advertising policies.
Back in January 2018, Facebook imposed a ban on advertising, which purposely covered a wide range of crypto spaces. According to the company, this was done to sharpen the search tool and methods of suppression to detect unscrupulous promoters and scams.
